Get on board an authentic steam engine train and relive days gone past on the tracks of the Museum Buurtspoorweg (MBS Boekelo).
Between Haaksbergen and the village of Boekelo lies a 125 year old railway track, spanning across the beautiful landscape of Twente. A palpable memory of the days where Twente transported coal, salt, different goods and passengers mainly by train. The museum cherishes more memories of that time with classic carriages and locomotives and a train station dating back to 1884 with a railway turntable, workshop and an engine hangar. The train driver, firemen and conductors are all dressed in the traditional old style. The MBS organizes several events like lunch- and diner rides, the Autumn Stream Day and wintertime ‘stampot’ (traditional Dutch mashed potato stew) rides. To cater to the younger train enthusiasts there are Lego and Meccano Train Days and Thomas the Tank Engine is a regular visitor of the museum!
It is also an option to rent out your very own train for parties or business meetings. For more information contact the museum.
