The Twente Region, together with the Achterhoek region, are the most innovative regions in the Netherlands according to a competition- and innovation research by the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. In the area of so called social- and radical innovation these regions perform better than the rest of the Netherlands. In this, the Eastern Netherlands “set an example for the rest of the country” as stated in the research report.Other regions are excelling as well. The provinces of East-Brabant and Northern-Limburg invest the most in technology and research. The northern parts of the Netherlands are leading in the area of ICT-investments. According to the study, Dutch companies are more innovative than their foreign counterparts in general.
