Popstage ATAK is a stage that mainly focusses on organising activities for a broad spectrum of visitors. Since September 2008 ATAK is accommodated in the National Music Quarter, in walking distance of Enschede Central Station. In front of ATAK, a beautiful new public square is being realised.
ATAK consists of a few different elements:
The ‘Grolsch Zaal’ is the biggest room in ATAK and has capacity for 800 visitors, divided over the main hall (600) and the balcony (200). The room is dim, somewhat neutral but still rugged because of the combination of perforated weathered-steal cladding of the wall, prefab concrete panels and a black synthetic floor. The technical installations and the layout of the Grolsch hall enable it to be easily transformed from a concert hall to a party centre for dance parties with DJ’s.
The ‘Saxion Zaal’, with a capacity for 300 visitors (100 of them on the balcony), offers a space for the smaller bands in the pop music scene, but also a perfect location for the more atmospheric dance parties. The room has an intimate and warm club ambience, with a wooden floor that blends into the stage and dark blue linnen wall covering combined with profiled prefab concrete panels.
The ATAK café offers capacity for 300 visitors and has a pleasant layout furnished with chairs, tables and barstools. Situated against the rear wall is a small stage, suited for the more intimate concerts or for a DJ. The spacious café can be transformed into a dancefloor, essentially making it the 3rd concert hall in ATAK. There are facilities in place to use the café as a bistro, but this will be realised as soon as the Willem Wilmink square is finished in 2014.
